Buying a Vehicle is a big decision and there are lots of things for you to consider.
Before purchasing a vehicle you must adhere to the following.
High Powered Vehicles
Probationary driver licence holders can not drive high powered vehicles. Driving a high powered motor vehicle attracts a heavy fine and may result in licence suspension.
A high powered vehicle is any vehicle with a power to weight ratio over 125 kw per tonne, or with an engine capacity to weight ratio over 3.5 litres per tonne. This includes any make of Vehicle.

When buying through a Licensed Motor Broker
As a licence Motor Broker it is our legal responsibility to ensure that every aspect of the vehicle meets the Licence Motor Traders standards. We will ensure:
- That the process is made easy, we do all the legwork to find you the best vehicle at the best possible price.
- The vehicle is independently mechanically checked
- The vehicle is sold with a roadworthy
- The vehicle is sold with clear title. That is that there is no financial hold on the vehicle.
- We will ensure that the vehicle you are purchasing has a full service history
- The pricing that is quoted to you is the drive away price, it will include all government charges.
When buying Privately
During the inspection and test drive, did the Vehicle operate to your satisfaction? Consider this in terms of:
- steering
- braking
- good all round visibility with no obstructions
- road handling (e.g. cornering, riding over bumps)
- overtaking
- reversing
- ease of parking
- cooling and heating.
- Check that the vehicle has a clear title that is that there is no hold on the vehicle by a finance company www.vicroads.vic.gov.au
- It is a good idea to get the vehicle either privately tested or by the RACV. This small fee could save you a lot of money in the end.
- It's always better to purchase a vehicle that has a full service history. Always check that the vehicle you are purchasing has its Service Books
When buying a motor vehicle it is important to have some of the following safety features:
- Airbags
- Anti-lock braking
- Intelligent Speed Alert System
- Minimum 4 star safety rating
- Light colour.
Even better if you have:
- Curtain Airbags
- Seatbelt warning device
- Electronic stability control
- Automated daytime running lights
- Side airbags.
